Belle Mare
New month, new music – we have for you here the new acts picked up by Tastebuds users over October. As usual, the users with the enviable foresight to win bragging rights are noted below each video.

1. Hozier

Honest, Irish, singer-songwriting. If you’re a fan of James Vincent McMorrow or Ben Howard, Hozier might be right up your street – currently at #1 in the Irish iTunes singles chart off the back of just a 4-track EP. We think he deserves a listen so we’re posting this live track, “Cherry Wine”, recorded live at 6am on an abandoned hotel rooftop:

BRAGGING RIGHTS: @LittleSparks, Cork

2. Belle Mare

London meets New York in the pairing of Amelia Bushell and Thomas Servidone – dulcet and husky tones “adorned with glinted pianos and spacious textures” in the beautifully melancholy full-length album from Belle Mare. Here’s the opener to The Boat of the Fragile Mind, “Charade”:

BRAGGING RIGHTS: @RobLickeR, Melbourne

3. Favored Nations

Trans-pacific three-piece electro outfit based in Los Angeles, Chicago & Adelaide it’s about as happy, disco-tinged, sunshine electro-pop – as you’d expect from the origin of Favored Nations! Upbeat antithesis of the previous two, this is “Blame Game”, from the band’s debut 3-track EP of the same name:

4. George Ezra

A third EP on the list, Bristolian singer-songwriter George Ezra released his in October after a BBC Introducing set at Glastonbury over the Summer – and just premiered his new video for “Can You Hear The Rain” today. Check out the VOICE! There’s no way this lad is 20 years old….:

5. Majid Jordan

The original hype resulting from a collaboration on Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” in August, was shrouded in mystery. Since then – Toronto production duo Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman have emerged as Majid Jordan. Originally releasing under the moniker Good People, this is one from the more house-y, beats-y incarnation, “Give Me A Reason (For Lovin You)”:

BRAGGING RIGHTS: @joanan, Bucureşti

Playlist up to 14 – we’ve added the Majid Jordan/Drake collab as “Give Me A Reason…” isn’t available on Spotify.
